We facilitate art classes virtual and in person for seniors, Veterans, hospice care patients and Alzheimer’s patients living in isolated or rural settings in West-Tennessee. We teach art classes in person at nursing homes, assisted living, memory care facilities and local hospitals. This project may take place in person or virtual according COVID-19 safety guidelines.
The audience we serve are patients and disabled senior students living in isolated or rural settings, nursing homes, assisted living, hospice and memory care facilities. The Project ”Art Expands Seniors Horizons,” has been appreciated for over 12 years in our community.
We facilitate and teach in an open art studio setting by.:
– Developing drawing, painting, collage and sculpting skills.
– Developing knowledge about different styles, art history and art appreciation.
– Stimulate talents and appreciating art by interacting with music and dance gesture.
– Creating colorful works of art, socializing and staying young.
Our collection of fine arts books are helpful for our students to find their own style and inspiration. Students may paint vases like Picasso did, watercolor impressionistic landscapes, photo collages by George Braque and Matisse, ready-made objects like Duchamp. Each project calls for a different kind of materials and style.
We encourage students to keep searching for a new interest.
