Implementing and facilitating free art, music and dance classes at to at-risk youth, children and families living in poverty and hardship in at-risk neighborhoods. We serve isolated teenage mothers, children and youth who are living in poverty with a high crime, substance abuse, homicidal and suicidal rate.(98% African American) We create a safe environment and motivate families to get their lives back on track. Contracted artists will be assisted by various guest artists, musicians and dance groups. Most participants are living with psychiatric disabilities and suffering of substance abuse and PTSD. Our art and dance teachers will challenge our students to learn about fine arts, art appreciation, and the principals and elements of making works of art. We introduce contemporary trends of music, poetry and dance, as well as preparing a portfolio. Students will be involved in organizing their own art shows and various events. This will encourage experience of personal artistic growth and discover potential career tracks.
Our Lincoln Courts Dancers have been on various radio and TV shows. Local nursing homes & Memory Care facilities are inquiring for their performance.
Art Instructor Ciarra:
“I enrolled in this program as a young single parent, raising my 3 children. After 5 years of volunteering my time and talents, I graduated in this program. I became a motivated teacher and inspiring roll model to the neighborhood. This makes me and my students very proud.”
